About Adam Olen

Thoughtful Leadership Rooted in Real Life

I’m Adam Olen, and I currently serve on the Duvall City Council. My journey into public service wasn’t part of a long political plan — it grew from something far more personal: the deep connection I feel to this town and the people in it.

Duvall is where I’ve raised my family, made lifelong friends, and experienced both profound loss and incredible community support. In the moments that mattered most, neighbors showed up — not because they had to, but because that’s who we are here. That sense of togetherness is what makes Duvall special, and it’s what I work to protect as we grow and evolve.

A Practical, People-First Background

While I currently serve on the Council, I’m not a career politician. I’ve built a wide-ranging career across sectors — from finance and education to consulting, retail, and tech startups. I’ve helped families plan for the future, taught critical thinking and writing at the college level, opened big-box retail locations, and guided small businesses and nonprofits toward greater impact and sustainability.

I’m proud of my work with mission-driven organizations, but I also understand how to balance idealism with practicality. Whether I’m reviewing city budgets or planning for infrastructure needs, I bring a mindset that’s strategic, financially sound, and grounded in real-world problem-solving.

A Longstanding Commitment to Service

Service has been a throughline in my life. Over the years, I’ve volunteered with organizations supporting:

🎓 Youth mentorship and education

🎭 Arts access and music programs

🏠 Childhood health and affordable housing

🏛️ Nonprofit governance and consulting

🚴‍♂️ Local sports and Little League coaching

I’ve served on boards, offered pro bono strategy support, mentored students, and coached youth in basketball, football, baseball, and mountain biking.

These experiences have shaped how I lead — with patience, empathy, and a deep commitment to the people, not just policies.

Why I’m Running

A forest with tall pine trees and sunlight streaming through the branches at the Redmond Watershed Preserve.

Duvall has given my family so much. After the loss of our daughter, this town wrapped us in care. I want to give back by helping shape a future that remains welcoming, connected, and grounded in what makes Duvall special.

I’m running because I care deeply — not just about policies, but about people.

When someone shares a concern or idea, I often suggest we take a walk together — I’ve found these conversations are some of the best ways to connect, reflect, and understand what really matters.

If elected, I’ll focus on:

  • Thoughtful growth that reflects our town’s values

  • Infrastructure improvements, especially where growth is impacting roads and mobility

  • Public art, events, and gathering spaces that connect us

  • Sustainable land use and park preservation

  • Transparency and trust in city government

  • Maintaining our small-town character as we grow

  • Supporting local businesses and walkable spaces

The decisions we make today shape the Duvall we leave for the next generation.
